In short
  • PropDesk sets no advertising and no analytics storage. We do count visits to the site, but the counting stores nothing in your browser.
  • Everything listed below exists to sign you in or to stop the app forgetting what you were doing.
  • None of it is used for tracking, which is why there is no consent banner. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.

Cookies and similar storage

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Browsers also offer two similar mechanisms, localStorage and sessionStorage, which serve the same purpose for our needs: holding a small piece of information so the application behaves sensibly.

The law treats all of these the same way, and so does this page. We refer to them together as “storage”.

The distinction that matters is not the mechanism but the purpose. Storage that makes a site work is one thing; storage that follows you between sites to build a picture of you is another. PropDesk uses only the first kind.

Exactly what we store

This is the complete list, taken from the application itself.

NameTypePurposeCategoryLifetime
sb-…-auth-tokenlocalStorageKeeps you signed in between pages and reloads. Set by Supabase, our authentication provider.Strictly necessaryUntil you sign out
pd_wl_joinedlocalStorageRemembers that you already joined the waitlist, so we stop asking.FunctionalUntil you clear it
pd_onboardedsessionStorageRemembers that you have seen the first-visit guide to the calculator.FunctionalUntil the tab closes
pd_beta_seensessionStorageRemembers that you have seen the private-preview notice.FunctionalUntil the tab closes
pd_saved_buildssessionStorageHolds your saved builds during a session so they open instantly.FunctionalUntil the tab closes
pd_load_buildsessionStorageCarries a build from one page to another when you open it in the calculator.FunctionalUntil the tab closes

During checkout

When you subscribe, you are taken to Stripe's own checkout page. Stripe sets its own storage there, on its own domain, to process the payment securely and to prevent fraud. That storage is governed by Stripe's privacy notice, not by this page.

What we do not use

No analytics storage. No advertising or retargeting. No social media pixels. No embedded media that tracks. No cross-site identifiers. We do not sell data, and there is nothing here that could be sold.

Two things are missing from the table because neither is browser storage, and you should know about them anyway. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not count your visit at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal (details). And the sign-in emails carry an invisible pixel from our email provider that records when the message is opened (details). Neither belongs on a cookie policy; we mention them because this is the page where people come to check.

Under EU rules on electronic privacy, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary for a service the user has requested. Storage that signs you in, or that remembers a choice you made a moment ago within the same service, falls outside that requirement.

Everything in the table above is of that kind, which is why PropDesk does not interrupt you with a banner. A banner asking permission for something that needs no permission is theatre, and we would rather not perform it.

If we ever add advertising, analytics that keeps something in your browser, or any other non-essential storage, we will ask for your consent before setting it, you will be able to refuse, and refusing will not cost you access to the tools.

One file loaded from another network

Separately from storage, one file that makes up the site is delivered from a public network rather than from our own servers: the calculator loads the library that builds its PDF exports from Cloudflare cdnjs. Everything else, typefaces included, comes from getpropdesk.io.

Fetching a file from any server discloses your IP address and basic browser information to that server. This is how the web works, and it happens without any storage being set. We mention it here because you are entitled to know that opening the calculator contacts a server other than ours. It is described in our Privacy Policy as well.

How to control storage

You are in charge. Every browser lets you view, clear, and block cookies and storage, usually under privacy or site settings, and you can do this for PropDesk alone without affecting other sites.

One consequence worth knowing: if you block the strictly necessary item, you will not be able to stay signed in. Clearing the functional items simply means the app forgets small conveniences: you will see the first-visit guide again, for instance. Nothing you have saved to your account is affected, because that lives in the database, not in your browser.

Changes

We will update this page whenever the list changes. The version number and effective date at the top always show the current version.
